Mesut Ozil has taken to social media to wish Petr Cech a happy birthday after the Arsenal goalkeeper turned 34 on Friday.

The goalkeeper kept 16 clean sheets in the Premier League for the north London side after arriving at The Emirates from Chelsea last summer.

Cech has been a regular fixture in the Arsenal first-team since his move across London, making 42 appearances in all competitions for the Gunners.

And Ozil clearly appreciates the impact that Cech has had since his arrival at Arsenal last year.

Ozil posted the picture above on his personal Instagram account on Friday evening and wrote: “Happy Birthday, @petrcech! … and thanks for 16 clean sheets this season. 😉⚽ #YaGunnersYa #AFC @arsenal”

Cech will be hoping to help Arsenal mount a serious assault on the Premier League title next season after the Gunners fell off the pace this term.

Arsene Wenger’s men had led the Premier League table over the festive period but fell off the pace after the turn of the year before Leicester City were eventually crowned champions.
