Mesut Ozil has taken to social media to congratulate Real Madrid on winning the Champions League title on Saturday night.

Real beat local rivals Atletico Madrid on penalties in the final in Milan as they secured their 11th European crown thanks to Cristiano Ronaldo’s winning spot kick.

Ozil joined Arsenal from Real Madrid in a big-money transfer back in the summer of 2013.

The World Cup winner has been one of the Premier League’s standout playmakers since his arrival in England three years ago.

And the Germany playmaker still clearly has a soft spot for his old club, as he took to social media to congratulate them on their win on Saturday evening.

The Arsenal man tweeted:

Ozil notched up 19 assists for his Arsenal team-mates last season as Arsene Wenger’s men ended up in second place in the Premier League table, 10 points behind champions Leicester City.
