Michael Owen makes bold claim about Arsenal and Tottenham

Michael Owen says Tottenham supporters will never forgive the Spurs players if the unthinkable happens

Michael Owen says Tottenham Hotspur supporters would never forgive the Spurs players if Arsenal managed to finish above their north London rivals in the Premier League this season.

The Lilywhites missed out on the Premier League title after their 2-2 draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge handed the crown to Leicester City with two games to spare.

Tottenham suffered a surprise 2-1 defeat by Southampton at White Hart Lane last weekend after Steven Davis’s brace cancelled out Heung min-son’s opener for the hosts.

Arsenal are just two points behind Spurs ahead of the final game of the Premier League season and Arsene Wenger’s side will host the division’s worst side Aston Villa at The Emirates on Sunday.

And former Liverpool striker Owen reckons Spurs fans would find it hard to accept if Spurs lost to Newcastle United and Arsenal hoisted themselves into second place.

“There is certainly plenty at stake in the Newcastle v Tottenham game,” Owen told Colossus Bets.

“Granted, Newcastle are already down after Sunderland’s 3-0 defeat of Everton on Wednesday night but Tottenham fans will never forgive their team if they lose this game and Arsenal beat Villa to pip them to second spot by a point.

“It would be a travesty if that happened, the way Tottenham have played this season, but the weekend home loss to Southampton does concern you.”
