Michael Owen reacts to Man United’s 1-0 win over Norwich

Michael Owen delivers verdict on Manchester United's 1-0 win over Norwich City on Saturday afternoon

Michael Owen felt Manchester United produced another average performance at Carrow Road as Louis van Gaal’s side were 1-0 winners against Norwich City.

The 20-time English champions struggled to create any chances against the Canaries in the absence of rested Marcus Rashford and injured Anthony Martial for the trip to Carrow Road.

However, £37.1m signing Juan Mata sealed a vital three points in the race to secure a top-four finish with the winner with 28 minutes remaining of Saturday’s early Premier League game.

Former Liverpool and United striker Owen wasn’t overly convinced by Van Gaal’s side despite a close-fought victory over the Premier League relegation candidates.

“I thought Manchester United were average,” Owen told BT Sport.

“They dominated the game and deserved to win but they weren’t very convincing.”

United are in fifth place in the Premier League table and a point behind fourth-placed Manchester City in the race to secure a place in next season’s Champions League competition.
