Michael Owen states his prediction for Sunderland v Chelsea

Michael Owen looks ahead to Chelsea's Premier League trip to Sunderland on Saturday

Michael Owen is tipping Sunderland to hold Chelsea to a 1-1 draw in Saturday’s Premier League clash at the Stadium of Light.

The Blues head into their trip up north in the Premier League fresh from their dramatic 2-2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur at Stamford Bridge on Monday night.

Their thrilling comeback against Spurs prevented the north London side from winning the title and handed Leicester City the top flight crown.

Chelsea do not have much left to play for as they bid to win their remaining Premier League games and end the season in positive fashion.

And former Liverpool and Manchester United striker Owen is tipping the Black Cats to earn a point against the west London side on Saturday afternoon.

Writing in his column for Colossus Bets, Owen said: “Chelsea certainly didn’t lie down against Spurs on Monday night in one of the most bad-tempered games you are likely to witness, but whether they will be as up for the fight at Sunderland on Saturday is debatable.

“The home side badly need three points as they are simply drawing too many games, as they did again at Stoke last weekend. They are now a point behind Newcastle with a game in hand, and three points are obviously vital here.

“They could well get them against a Chelsea side with little to play for, but then again that was the case when the Blues won 4-1 at Bournemouth recently. I go 1-1, and for the relegation battle to go down to the final weekend on May 15.”
