Paul Merson says it is time for Arsene Wenger to stand down as Arsenal manager

Paul Merson believes Arsene Wenger should stand down as Arsenal manager this summer.

The Gunners boss was forced to contend with a difficult end to the Premier League season amid growing unrest at The Emirates surrounding his reign.

The north London side saw their title bid fade away in the second half of the season, while Arsenal made premature exits in the Champions League and the FA Cup.

Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone has been touted as a potential replacement for Wenger, while Southampton boss Ronald Koeman is thought to be keen on the Gunners job.

Former Arsenal midfielder Merson expressed his doubts surrounding over Wenger’s future in north London.

Asked if Wenger should quit Arsenal on Fantasy FC podcast, Merson replied: “Yes.”
