Peter Kenyon believes Jose Mourinho will build the right atmosphere for the Manchester United players to win silverware.

The 53-year-old was named as United’s new manager on Friday morning after relentless speculation linking the Portuguese coach with the job at Old Trafford.

Mourinho succeeds his former Barcelona boss Louis van Gaal after the Dutchman was sacked a matter of days after United won the FA Cup at Wembley.

The ex-Inter Milan and Real Madrid manager won three Premier League titles, three League Cups and the FA Cup during two spells at Chelsea before he was sacked in December.

And former Chelsea and United chief executive Kenyon explained what the Red Devils can expect from their new manager.

“Jose will do it his own way,” Kenyond told Sky Sports.

“Jose knows how to win, he knows how to build the best teams, he knows how to create the atmosphere for players to develop to the very top level and win trophies, and that’s what he’ll be doing.

“I don’t think he sets out any day to disrupt but he doesn’t take prisoners. That’s proved successful and that’s what Manchester United are getting.”

The Red Devils haven’t won the Premier League title since Sir Alex Ferguson stood down as manager in 2013.
