Phil Neville delivers his verdict on Twitter after Manchester United appoint Jose Mourinho

Phil Neville has hailed a brilliant start to his Friday after Manchester United confirmed Jose Mourinho as their new manager.

The Red Devils confirmed Mourinho as Louis van Gaal’s replacement in a statement on their website, ending months of speculation linking the Portuguese coach with the Old Trafford role.

The former Chelsea manager becomes the third manager to take over the reins of the 20-time English champions since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement in May 2013 following their 13th Premier League title success.

And Neville, who is currently an assistant coach at Valencia, took to Twitter to welcome Mourinho to Old Trafford.

Mourinho won the Premier League and the League Cup during their second reign at Stamford Bridge before the Portuguese coach was sacked in December following a disastrous start to the defence of their top-flight crown.
