Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson pens touching Instagram message for Arsenal striker Danny Welbeck
Jordan Henderson has sent a heartfelt message to Danny Welbeck after the Arsenal striker’s season was brought to an abrupt end at The Etihad on Sunday.
The 24-year-old was forced off in the first half of Arsenal’s 2-2 draw with Manchester City after the England international suffered a suspected knee injury following an innocuous challenge for the ball.
Welbeck was forced to undergo a knee operation this week after the north London club confirmed the former Manchester United striker had suffered “significant cartilage damage”.
The Three Lions forward is set to miss up to nine months after Welbeck’s latest knee injury ruled the Gunner star out of this summer’s European championship in France.
Liverpool captain Henderson, who has remained good friends with the Arsenal striker since their time together at Sunderland, sent a message to the Gunners forward on social media.
Henderson wrote on his Instagram page: “I know you will be back stronger! What a footballer and even more importantly an incredible human being. Everyone is behind you to make a quick and strong recovery. 🙌🏻 @dannywelbeck”
Welbeck had scored four goals and made two assists in the Premier League since his return from a knee injury earlier this year.
