Lucas Leiva sent a message of congratulations after Philippe Coutinho was named Liverpool’s player of the year at the club’s end of season awards on Thursday night.

The Brazil international has been one of Jurgen Klopp’s standout performers in a mixed season for the Merseyside outfit following th sacking of Brendan Rodgers in October.

Coutinho fought back from a hamstring injury to help inspire the Reds to the Europa League final where Liverpool will face Sevilla in Basel next Wednesday night.

And Liverpool midfielder Lucas sent a message of congratulations to his compatriot Coutinho following his latest award.

Lucas wrote on his Instagram page: “Congratulations my brother for all the awards you won today. . You deserved all !!! 👏🏻😘”

Coutinho has scored eight times and has made five assists in 26 Premier League appearances this season.

The South American has also netted two goals and has made one assist in 12 Europa League games.
