New Liverpool signing Marko Grujic reflects on his Serbia debut
Marko Grujic spoke of his pride at making his first appearance for the Serbia national team ahead of the start of his Liverpool career later this summer.
The 20-year-old has experienced a whirlwind 2016 so far after the attacking midfielder agreed a £5m deal to sign for Liverpool in the January transfer window.
Grujic returned to his boyhood club Red Star Belgrade on loan until the end of the season as he won the Serbian top-flight crown.
The Liverpool signing even captained Red Star for the first time, scoring a wonder goal in the process to finish his career at the club in style.
Grujic travelled to Merseyside earlier this month to watch Liverpool’s 1-1 draw with Chelsea before he trained at Melwood for the first time.
And the Reds playmaker took to Instagram to reflect on another milestone in his blossoming career after making his Serbia debut on Thursday night in a 2-1 victory over Cyprus.
Grujic wrote: “My first game for the senior national team 🇷🇸 #debut 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 Thanks for support”
Liverpool finished in eighth place in the Premier League table.
