Toby Alderweireld expressed his pride at winning the Tottenham Hotspur members’s player of the season award following an outstanding first season at White Hart Lane.

The Belgium international has been a mainstay of the Premier League’s best defence after having helped Spurs concede just 30 goals in 37 Premier League games this term.

Alderweireld has also chipped in with a number of valuable goals, too, scoring four goals in 37 top-flight games for the north London side in a dramatic 2015/16 campaign.

The 27-year-old centre-half picked up his player of the year award ahead of Tottenham’s 2-1 defeat by Southampton at White Hart Lane in the Premier League on Sunday.

The Belgian defender posted the above photo and wrote the following message on his Instagram page: “Very honoured to have the members player of the season award. We now focus on Sunday & will do everything to finish 2nd. #COYS”
