Ray Parlour has warned Manchester United that they have a “big decision” to make regarding Louis van Gaal’s future this summer.

The Red Devils are currently preparing for their FA Cup final clash against Crystal Palace at Wembley on Saturday evening as they look to end what has been a disappointing season on a high.

Van Gaal’s future continues to be a relentless source of speculation after he watched his team miss out on a top-four finish in the Premier League.

Jose Mourinho has been hotly tipped as the leading candidate to take over at Old Trafford should the Red Devils opt to part company with Van Gaal in the summer.

Mourinho’s future is still up in the air following his sacking by Chelsea back in December and he is currently the favourite to take over at United.

And former Arsenal man Parlour admits that the Red Devils have a big decision to make about their next manager during the summer months.

Speaking to Betsafe, Parlour said: “That’s the big question everybody has been waiting for, whether he [Van Gaal] is going to be in charge of Manchester United [next season].

“We know what Man City has done with Pep Guardiola, with Conte in Chelsea, maybe my old club Arsenal can buy couple of players they need to challenge the title.

“But certainly, all eyes will be on Van Gaal, whether if he is going to leave or not.

“If he loses the FA Cup Final, I think it’ll be definite that he would have to leave the club.

“Obviously Jose Mourinho is just around the corner, he has been waiting in the wings to see what will happen as he has been a great manager for Manchester United, having a great record with wins for Chelsea. So this is a big question.

“But if Manchester United win the FA Cup, which I’m expecting them to do, they have a big decision to make, whether let him go now or keep him for next season.”
