Robbie Savage trolls Arsenal with Mesut Ozil comments

Robbie Savage reckons Mesut Ozil would be doing even better if he was playing for a top club

Robbie Savage has jokingly suggested that Mesut Ozil would be an ever better player if the Germany midfielder was playing at a “good team”.

The Arsenal playmaker was one of six nominees for the Facebook Football Awards on Monday night but the 26-year-old missed out on the top prize after Riyad Mahrez scooped the social media award for his Leicester City heroics.

Ozil has scored six goals and has made 18 assists in 34 Premier League appearances for the north London side so far this season in an otherwise disappointing campaign for Arsene Wenger’s side.

The Arsenal club-record signing netted 27 times in 129 appearances for Real Madrid before Ozil moved to the Emirates Stadium in a £42.5m deal in August 2013.

Former Leicester City midfielder Savage risked the wrath of the Arsenal supporters with suggestion that Ozil would have even greater stats if the World Cup winner was playing for a better club.

“He has got 18 assists. Could you imagine if he was playing in a good team? He has been brilliant this season,” Savage said at the 2016 Facebook Football Awards.
