Roy Keane makes bold claim about Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool striker
Roy Keane discusses the future of Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge
Roy Keane has suggested that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp deep down isn’t a fan of Daniel Sturridge.
The Reds forward was omitted from Klopp’s side for Liverpool’s 1-0 defeat by Villarreal in the first leg of their Europa League semi-final at Estadio El Madrigal last week.
Sturridge was restored Klopp’s starting line-up for the trip to South Wales as the youngest Liverpool side in Premier League history lost 3-1 to Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium.
The 26-year-old hasn’t started Liverpool’s last three Europa League games despite his fine goal-scoring form in the Premier League, prompting talk of a potential move to West Ham United.
Discussing the England striker’s future on ITV Sport, former Manchester United captain Keane suggested that Klopp simply doesn’t rate the former Chelsea and Manchester City star.
“Over the weekend, he didn’t. Maybe Klopp deep down doesn’t fancy him that highly,” Keane told ITV Sport.
Sturridge has scored eight times in 14 Premier League games for the Merseyside outfit in an injury-hit campaign for the Liverpool man.
