Shaun Goater issues Man United warning over Romelu Lukaku
Shaun Goater explains why Romelu Lukaku should think twice about a move to Manchester United
Shaun Goater has claimed that Romelu Lukaku doesn’t suit Manchester United’s style amid reports linking him with a £50m move to Old Trafford this summer.
The Belgium international has made no secret of his interest in a transfer away from Goodison Park at the end of the season as Lukaku continues to be linked with La Liga giants Real Madrid and United.
Only Tottenham striker Harry Kane, Argentina international Sergio Aguero and Leicester star Jamie Vardy have scored more goals than Lukaku, who has netted 18 of Everton’s 52 goals in 35 Premier League games.
Former Manchester City striker Goater believes Lukaku could be a United flop similar to Wilfried Bony after the Ivory Coast international swapped Swansea City for the Etihad Stadium last summer.
“It’s interesting because Lukaku could be like a Wilfried Bony. He could be thinking that he wants to go to United to win things but he should also reflect on players like Bony and consider if he goes there will he be playing regularly?” said Goater, speaking exclusively to 888sport.
“He looks like a player who can get United a lot of joy but it depends on the philosophy of the team. LVG controls the tempo of the game so it’s not the in-your-face, get bodies in the box way and I don’t think Lukaku will suit them. He is a quality striker but he needs a lot of action and balls coming in around him.”
Lukaku was unable to inspire Everton to FA Cup glory after the Toffees lost 2-1 to the Belgian striker’s suitors United in the semi-final at Wembley last month.
