Stan Collymore discusses reports Jose Mourinho could take over at Man United
Stan Collymore believes Jose Mourinho will be aware of what the Man United supporters want
Stan Collymore believes appointing Jose Mourinho is a no brainer for Manchester United.
The Red Devils have been heavily linked with a move for the axed Chelsea manager after a disappointing season under Louis van Gaal.
The 20-time English champions are yet to agree a deal with the 53-year-old, who has also been touted as Paris Saint-Germain’s next manager.
Van Gaal’s side are currently in fifth place in the Premier League table, while United will face Crystal Palace in the FA Cup final at Wembley next month.
Former Liverpool and Nottingham Forest striker Collymore is confident that Mourinho will adapt to the demands of the United supporters and embrace the Red Devils’s younger players.
“I think Mourinho would be a no brainer. I’ve already said along with many others that this year has seen plenty of ‘come and get me’ pleas from the Special One, and if he hasn’t learned in that time what United fans want, namely youth, pace and excitement, then he frankly deserves to fail if he gets his chance,” Collymore told BoyleSports.
Mourinho led Chelsea to their fourth Premier League title last season before the Portuguese coach was sacked in December following a run of nine Premier League defeats.
United are four points behind fourth-placed Manchester City in the race to secure a place in next season’s Champions League competition.
