Terry Gibson issues warning to Gareth Bale over Man United transfer speculation
Terry Gibson warns Gareth Bale not to leave Real Madrid in the summer
Terry Gibson has warned Gareth Bale that leaving Real Madrid would represent a step down in the Welshman’s career.
The 26-year-old has been linked with a return to the Premier League in recent months amid reported interest from Manchester City and Manchester United.
Bale has been in good form for Los Blancos in recent months after scoring 19 goals and making 13 assists in 21 La Liga appearances for Madrid.
Former Chelsea striker Gibson believes Bale would be foolish to leave the Spanish capital even if Cristiano Ronaldo remains at The Bernabeu beyond the end of the season.
“Ever since he joined the club, there has been talk of him coming back to the Premier League, but there is nowhere bigger than Real Madrid for Gareth Bale to be at,” Gibson told Sky Sports.
“They are one of the biggest clubs in world football. What a stage he has to play football alongside some of the best players in the world.
“Why would he want to leave? He’s not going to get more money anywhere else. It would be a step down if he joined another club.”
Bale has won the Champions League and the Copa del Rey since his £85.7m move to Madrid from Tottenham Hotspur in 2013.
The Wales international has netted 58 times in 120 appearances in all competitions since his big-money move to the Spanish capital.
Madrid will host City in the second leg of their Champions League semi-final at The Bernabeu on Wednesday night.
