Thierry Henry delivers his honest verdict on Arsenal’s season

Thierry Henry says Arsenal cannot feel that they have made much of an improvement this season

Thierry Henry feels that Arsenal have not made any improvement this season, despite finishing higher in the Premier League table.

The north London side ended up in second place in the table and above local rivals Tottenham after they thrashed Aston Villa 4-0 at The Emirates on Sunday afternoon.

After trailing Spurs for much of the campaign, the Gunners ended up above their neighbours after the Lilywhites were thrashed 5-1 by Newcastle on the final day of the season.

Despite recording their highest Premier League finish since the 2004-05 season, former Arsenal striker Henry feels that the Gunners are likely to be disappointed by the way in which the campaign panned out.

Speaking on Sky Sports News HQ, former striker Henry said: “It makes it their best finish since 2004-05. In that season Arsenal had 83 points finishing second.

“This year, 71 points finishing second. In terms of points is there an improvement there? Not really. In terms of position? Yes, of course.”

Arsenal led the Premier League table over the festive period but their stuttering form following the turn of the year led to them falling behind Leicester City, who were eventually crowned champions.
