The Lilywhites are expected to be one of the busiest clubs in the summer transfer window as Mauricio Pochettino gears his side up for a return to the Champions League next season.
Spurs were one of the Premier League’s standout sides last season and pushed Leicester City to the wire before the Foxes eventually won the title.
Attentions will now inevitably turn towards the transfer window and the players the Lilywhites could end up recruiting this summer.
And former manager Pleat has revealed that the plans are already in place for a number of signings to be made before next season.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Pleat said: “Next year they will continue to improve, and they’ll add a couple of players to it.
“It’s a balance. If they feel they can get the right player to do a certain job they will look at all sorts of things. They won’t say, ‘Well because he’s this age, we can’t possibly sign him’, but they will still look for young, hungry players with a good attitude because that is what the manager likes.
“They can take a gamble. They did because they backed me with Dele Alli. So they will do if they can find one that’s very good value.
“But, generally speaking, they’ve got to find players that have got some pedigree and already proven themselves at a decent level.”
Spurs ended up third in the Premier League table after they were pipped to second place on the final day of the season by Arsenal.
