Mourinho is set to take charge at Old Trafford after the Red Devils opted to part company with Louis van Gaal on Monday afternoon.
The Portuguese coach’s future has been a relentless source of speculation since his sacking by Chelsea back in December and has since been hotly tipped as the leading candidate to take over at Old Trafford.
Ibrahimovic’s future has also been a subject of intense speculation after his exit from Paris Saint-Germain was confirmed.
The Sweden striker has been strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford on a free transfer, and the forward’s latest comments about Mourinho are only likely to further fuel talk of a possible move to United.
Ibrahimovic told a news conference on Thursday: I think it’s a great move, you want action you bring Mourinho.
“I believe he’s the man to bring them back to the top, yes. Wherever he went, he won. He knows what he is doing. If you want to win, you bring Mourinho.
“I had a fantastic time when I was working with him. When I left Inter I said we had a short time together but I had a great time and if we will work again I don’t know, let’s see how things play out.
“I have been speaking with him every day since I left Inter. There is no secret, I have a great relationship with Mourinho and we have been in contact but not the last week, we have been talking for many years so that’s it. What do you want to know? Tell me?”
United sacked Van Gaal after the Red Devils finished fifth and won the FA Cup.
