Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s agent provides latest Man United transfer update
Zlatan Ibrahimovic's agent plays down talk of imminent Manchester United move
Manchester United aren’t the only option for free agent Zlatan Ibrahimovic this summer, according to the Sweden international’s agent.
The Red Devils have been heavily linked with a move to sign the 34-year-old striker in recent weeks ahead of the appointment of Ibrahimovic’s former Inter Milan manager Jose Mourinho as United’s new boss.
Ibrahimovic scored twice in his final appearance for the Ligue 1 champions earlier this month after he confirmed that he would not being signing a new contract with PSG at the end of the season.
The 20-time English champions were thought to be the clear favourites to secure the experienced Sweden centre-forward’s services this summer following relentless speculation.
However, Ibrahimovic’s agent Mino Raiola has played down suggesting that a move to United is imminent.
“There are some clubs in England, a few clubs in Europe, clubs outside Europe, but everyone assumes that he must go to Manchester United – it is not true,” Raiola told Swedish media outlet Expressen.
“The club that buys him do not have to pay a transfer fee. This means that Ibrahimovic, who just finished a record season at PSG, can get an extra high salary. He is in a good bargaining position.
“It’s about doing the right thing at the right time. The only thing we care about is quality. Let’s see what happens. But we have a nice period ahead of us now.”
Ibrahimovic has played for Malmo, Ajax, Juventus, Inter Milan, Barcelona, AC Milan and PSG during a decorated career at the pinnacle of European football.
