Agent comments on Dimitri Payet’s future amid Chelsea transfer talk
Dimitri Payet's agent comments on speculation linking his client with a transfer away from West Ham
Dimitri Payet’s agent has insisted that his client would only be available for “ridiculous money” in the summer transfer window, amid speculation linking him with a move to Chelsea.
The West Ham United star earned plenty of new admirers for his performances last season following his arrival at the east London club last summer.
Payet further enhanced his glowing reputation by scoring France’s winning goal in their Euro 2016 win over Romania last week.
The 29-year-old has been touted as a possible target for Chelsea as Antonio Conte prepares to revamp his squad ahead of his first season in charge at Stamford Bridge.
Payet’s agent Mark McKay has insisted that the player is happy at West Ham, but refused to rule out a possible move away from the club should a big-money offer arrive.
Speaking to Sky Sports, agent McKay said: “As far as I am concerned, he’s been happy at West Ham and it’s down to West Ham that he’s in the position that he is in.
“He’s doing great now for France and to get him now, you’ve got to be talking ridiculous money. But football is football, so you never know.
“When he first came last year, we hoped for the best with him. We knew that he was a really good player, but I don’t think anyone could really expect what he has gone on to do in the Premier League so far.
“The game against Romania the other night was a joy to watch.”
Conte is set to officially take over at Stamford Bridge after Euro 2016.
