Arsenal leading Liverpool in race to sign £20m Germany star – report
Arsenal are thought to be leading the race to sign Liverpool target Mario Gotze
Arsenal are thought to be leading Liverpool in the race to sign Mario Gotze, according to reports in Spain.
The Germany international’s future at Bayern Munich has been a source of constant speculation in this summer’s transfer window after a disappointing season at the Allianz Arena.
Gotze was thought to be heading to Liverpool last month amid reports Jurgen Klopp was on the brink of completing a £20m deal for the World Cup winner, who he coached at Borussia Dortmund.
However, a proposed transfer wasn’t completed despite Bayern appearing to indicate that Gotze doesn’t have a future at the Bundesliga champions just three years after his transfer to the Bavarian club.
According to Spanish media outlet Mundo Deportivo, Arsenal are now the frontrunners to sign the 23-year-old forward in the summer transfer window as Arsene Wenger looks to make his second signing since the Premier League season came to a close.
