Arsenal legend makes claim about striker’s proposed transfer to Gunners

Ray Parlour believes that Jamie Vardy has changed his mind about joining Arsenal this summer.
The Leicester City striker was thought to be on the verge of moving to the north London club after Arsenal reportedly triggered the £20m release clause in his contract last weekend.
Arsenal are said to have offered Vardy a four-year contract worth as much as £120,000 a week to move to The Emirates this summer.
However, the forward appears to be in no rush to make a decision about his future as he focuses on England duty ahead of their Euro 2016 opener on Saturday night.
And former Arsenal man Parlour feels that Vardy has performed something of a U-turn after initially being tempted to join Arsene Wenger’s side.
Speaking on talkSPORT on Friday, Parlour said: “It looks like it isn’t happening now.
“I was at the Arsenal the other day and there were big reports flying around, and the club’s cameramen and digital staff had to get down to the training ground.
“So it looked like it was going to happen – there was a medical being done.
“But it seems Vardy thought about it while on England duty, and suddenly there was a U-turn.”
Arsenal have already confirmed the signing of Granit Xhaka this summer as Wenger bids to revamp his squad ahead of next season.
