Arsenal, Man United suffer setback as £50m striker signs new contract – report
Chelsea and Man United target Edinson Cavani has signed new PSG contract, according to Sky Italia
Arsenal and Manchester United have suffered a potentially fatal blow to their hopes of signing Edinson Cavani amid reports in Italy that the striker has signed a new long-term deal with Paris Saint-Germain.
The Uruguay international has been heavily linked with a move away from Paris this summer amid Premier League interest, including Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United.
The Red Devils are already the favourites to sign Cavani’s PSG team-mate Zlatan Ibrahimovic, whose current contract is set to expire later this summer.
The 29-year-old was thought to be heading for the Parc des Princes exit door, too, given his inability to tie down a regular starting spot in Laurent Blanc’s side since his £50m move in 2013.
According to Sky Italia, Cavani has agreed a deal with the Ligue 1 champions which would amount to £6.25m a season as well as £1.25m in bonuses.
The Uruguayan striker moved to PSG from Napoli in 2013.
