Arsenal open talks to sign 22-year-old Brazilian – report

Arsenal are interested in signing Douglas Santos from Atletico Mineiro this summer, according to reports

Arsenal have made contact with Atletico Mineiro about the prospect of signing Douglas Santos this summer, according to reports in Brazil.

The north London side continue to be heavily linked with a number of players as Arsene Wenger bids to revamp his squad ahead of next season.

Arsenal have already strengthened their midfield options with the signing of Granit Xhaka last month.

Now, Wenger is turning his attention to other areas of his squad which need improving ahead of the 2016-17 campaign.

And Brazilian outlet Hoje Em Dia is now reporting that Arsenal have made contact with Atletico Mineiro over a possible deal to sign 22-year-old left-back Santos.

Santos is highly-rated and has been linked with a move to Europe this summer, with Barcelona also said to be keen on the Brazil international.

The same report goes on to say that Santos is expected to command a transfer fee of around £7.7m should he leave the Brazilian club this summer.
