Arsenal ready to rival Liverpool for £20m Germany forward – report

Arsenal are ready to rival Liverpool for the signature of Mario Gotze, according to The Sun

Arsenal are ready to rival Liverpool for the signing of Bayern Munich forward Mario Gotze, according to The Sun.

The Reds have been heavily linked with the 23-year-old attacking midfielder since the conclusion of the Premier League season.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp previously worked with the Bayern star during his spell in charge of Borussia Dortmund.

However, the Merseyside outfit’s proposed move for Gotze has failed to materialise as the Bayern forward stars at Euro 2016.

According to The Sun, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has identified Gotze as a potential target for the north London side.

The World Cup winner is thought to command a transfer fee in the region of £20m after an injury-hit season for Bayern at the Allianz Arena.

Arsenal finished in second place in the Premier League table ahead of their bitter rivals Tottenham Hotspur but crashed out of the Champions League and the FA Cup.
