Belgium star delivers latest update on proposed transfer to Chelsea
Chelsea suffer a blow in their pursuit of Radja Nainggolan in the summer transfer window
Radja Nainggolan has poured cold water on the speculation linking him with a transfer to Chelsea this summer by signalling his intention to stay at Roma next season.
The Belgium international has been heavily linked with a transfer to Stamford Bridge in recent weeks as Antonio Conte prepares for his first season in charge of the west London club.
Both Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois have admitted to trying to convince the midfielder to consider a move to Chelsea while on international duty with Belgium at Euro 2016.
However, it now appears that Nainggolan has rejected the chance to move to the west London club and is preparing to stay at AS Roma next season.
Speaking at a news conference at Euro 2016, star midfielder Nainggolan said: “I said to him [the Roma president] I love where I am playing so why not stay?
“Chelsea were talking but at the moment there is nothing.
“The Premier League is a big competition, it’s lovely, but I think sometimes in life you need to make choices, and all I can say is that I am happy where I am.”
