Besiktas ready to end France defender’s Arsenal nightmare – report
Besiktas want to sign Arsenal defender Mathieu Debuchy on loan, according to Daily Star
Besiktas want to sign out-of-favour Arsenal defender Mathieu Debuchy on a loan deal this summer, according to Daily Star.
The France defender endured another disappointing season at the Gunners after falling behind 20-year-old right-back Hector Bellerin in the pecking order at the Emirates Stadium.
Debuchy has only made 22 appearances in all competitions in two seasons at the 2014 and 2015 FA Cup holders after swapping Newcastle United for Arsenal in 2014.
Arsene Wenger allowed the French full-back to join Bourdeaux on loan in the second half of the 2015/16 season.
According to Daily Star, Turkish side Besiktas want to sign Debuchy on loan with a view to making the deal permanent as the French defender looks to resurrect his stalling career.
The 30-year-old moved to Arsenal in a £12m deal from Newcastle in 2014.
Debuchy scored his first and only goal for Arsenal in a 2-2 draw with Liverpool at Anfield in December 2014.
Arsenal finished in second place in the Premier League table last season ahead of their bitter rivals Tottenham Hotspur on goal difference.
