Chelsea boost as Argentina midfielder’s agent confirms interest
Jose Mauri's agent confirms that the AC Milan midfielder is receiving interest from some European clubs
Jose Mauri is receiving interest from a number of European clubs, according to the AC Milan midfielder’s agent.
The 20-year-old has made five appearances for the seven-time European champions since his move to Milan from Parma in 2015.
Mauri was previously linked with a move to 2015 Premier League champions Chelsea during Jose Mourinho’s reign but a deal failed to materialise.
Given Antonio Conte’s knowledge of Serie A, the incoming Chelsea manager has already been linked with a host of talent in Italy’s top flight.
The Italy Under-21 international’s agent confirmed interest in the Argentina-born playmaker ahead of the summer transfer window.
“He wants to prove his worth by playing,” Dino Zampacorta is quoted as saying by Football Italia.
“Last year he had to make a huge effort before finding space, but in training he behaved impeccably. He didn’t miss a single session.
“Could he leave? It’s impossible to say right now, as we don’t know anything about the situation at Milan, in terms of who will be Coach or who will make the decisions.
“So far the talk of leaving is just rumours. I can’t deny there’s interest from many teams, both in Italy and abroad, but for now there’s no official offer.
“Pescara? I repeat, it’s just rumours. There are a lot of teams who like him. As well as those who wanted to sign him before he went to Milan, others have joined.
“For now though, there’s nothing significant.”
Chelsea finished in ninth place in the Premier League table as Mourinho and then Guus Hiddink failed to inspire title-winning form from the Blues.
Former Juventus manager Conte is set to take over the reins at the deposed champions following Italy’s Euro 2016 campaign in France this summer.
