Chelsea face competition for £9m Juventus defender – report
Chelsea will have to beat off competition from Inter Milan for Stephan Lichtsteiner, according to reports in Italy
Chelsea will face competition from Inter Milan for Juventus defender Stephan Lichtsteiner this summer, according to reports in Italy.
Italy head coach Antonio Conte is set to take over the reins at Stamford Bridge following the Azzurri’s Euro 2016 campaign this summer.
The 46-year-old spent three years in charge of the Old Lady before he stood down to take on the challenge of managing the Italy national team.
Conte worked with Lichtsteiner during his three-year term in Turin as he guided Juventus to three successive Serie A titles.
The new Chelsea manager has been linked with a move for the Switzerland defender given Branislav Ivanovic’s struggles last season.
According to Calciomercatoweb, Inter want to lure the 32-year-old defender to Milan and are prepared to offer Brazil star Joao Miranda to get the deal over the line.
Lichtsteiner has won five successive Serie A titles since his move to Juventus.
