Chelsea leading Arsenal in race to sign star striker – report

Chelsea have moved ahead of Arsenal in the race to sign Alvaro Morata this summer, say reports

Chelsea have edged ahead of Arsenal in the race to sign Alvaro Morata from Juventus this summer, according to reports.

The Blues have been linked with a host of new players in recent weeks as Antonio Conte gears up for his first campaign in charge at Stamford Bridge.

Morata has been heavily linked with a move away from Juventus in recent weeks, with a number of top clubs reportedly keen on signing him.

Real Madrid are said to have activated the buy-back clause in his Juve contract and now plan to sell him for around £60m this summer.

And that latest development has put Chelsea in the driving seat to secure the signing of Morata this summer, according to the Daily Mirror.

The same report goes on to say that Real Madrid’s huge asking price for the Spain international is likely to put Arsenal off in the race for Morata’s signature.
