Chelsea, Man United face more competition for £70m Argentina striker – report
Chelsea and Man United face competition from Atletico Madrid for Gonzalo Higuain, according to reports
Chelsea are facing even more competition for Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain from Atletico Madrid, according to a report in the Daily Star.
The Argentina international is proving to be one of the most-coveted strikers in Europe as Premier League duo Chelsea and Manchester United eye a deal for the South American.
Higuain, who moved to the Italian side from Real Madrid in 2013, netted 36 times in 35 league games for Napoli last season as the 28-year-old set a new Serie A record.
Chelsea were thought to be leading the race to sign the Argentina international with Antonio Conte set to take over the reins at Stamford Bridge following Euro 2016.
According to Daily Star, Atletico manager Diego Simeone wants to sign the former Real Madrid striker, with los Rojiblancos able to offer Champions League football unlike Chelsea and United.
Higuain has netted 71 goals in 104 Serie A games in three seasons at the Naples outfit.
