Chelsea owner watches £58m Spain striker – report
Roman Abramovich watched Alvaro Morata in action for Spain against Croatia, according to Daily Telegraph
Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich watches Blues target Alvaro Morata in Spain’s 2-1 defeat by Croatia on Tuesday night, according to the Daily Telegraph.
The 23-year-old Juventus striker scored seven times in 33 appearances for the Turin side as Massimiliano Allegri’s side won their fourth successive Serie A crown last month.
However, Morata continues to be linked with a move away from Italy after starting just 16 of his 33 Serie A games for the reigning Italian champions over the course of the campaign.
Real Madrid have the upper hand as Los Blancos look to exploit a £23.6m buyback clause in the striker’s Juventus contract and sell on the Spain forward for a price in the region of £58m.
Arsenal and Manchester United have been linked with a move for the striker, while Chelsea have emerged as another contender to sign the much-coveted Spain international this summer.
According to Daily Telegraph, Chelsea’s billionaire owner Abramovich was in attendance to watch Morata as Spain lost 2-1 to Croatia in their final group-stage game.
Morata will face Chelsea manager Antonio Conte in the last 16 as Spain take on Italy this weekend.
