Chelsea plan bid to make Premier League striker Conte’s first signing – report

Chelsea could switch their attentions to making Christian Benteke Antonio Conte's first signing, say reports

Chelsea could be set to table a big-money bid to lure Christian Benteke to Chelsea from Liverpool this summer, according to reports.

The Blues are widely expected to be one of the busiest clubs in the summer transfer window as Antonio Conte prepares for his first season in charge at Stamford Bridge.

The west London club could end up making significant reinforcements following a disastrous season for the Blues as they missed out on qualification for European competition.

Chelsea have been heavily linked with a bid to bring Everton striker Romelu Lukaku back to Stamford Bridge this summer.

However, The Times is now reporting that Chelsea are plotting a move to lure Benteke to the west London club should they fail in their attempts to sign Lukaku.

The same report says that Chelsea face stiff competition in trying to bring Lukaku back to Stamford Bridge and that Benteke is their back-up option.
