Chelsea, Tottenham given boost as Serie A midfielder discusses future
Franco Vazquez is eyeing a move to Chelsea or Tottenham Hotspur
Franco Vazquez has confirmed that he will leave Palermo in the summer amid interest from Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur.
Spurs are believed to be on the lookout for a number of new signings this summer as Mauricio Pochettino prepares his side for a return to the Champions League next season.
The Argentina-born midfielder has been linked with a move to White Hart Lane in recent days as Pochettino looks to bolster his squad.
However, the Lilywhites could face competition from their bitter London rivals Chelsea as new manager Antonio Conte looks to exploit his knowledge of Serie A in the summer transfer window.
And Vazquez revealed that his agent is in negotiations with a number of clubs, adding that he will leave the Serie A club this summer.
“Do I know anything about Tottenham and Chelsea? Well, I know how things are developing, however, my agent is taking care of events and the truth is that at present I have not signed anything,” Vazquez told Mediagol.
“100 per cent I will not be a player of Palermo next year. Continue my career in Italy or in the Premier League? I would like both the first and the second option.”
The 27-year-old midfielder scored eight goals and notched up seven assists in his 36 Serie A appearances for Palermo last season.
Spurs ended up third in the Premier League table last season after they were pipped by local rivals Arsenal on the final day of the campaign.
