Chris Waddle: My thoughts on Man United starlet Marcus Rashford
Chris Waddle is expecting big things from Marcus Rashford for England at Euro 2016
Chris Waddle has insisted that it is not too early to take Marcus Rashford to Euro 2016 with England.
Roy Hodgson’s decision to include the 18-year-old striker in his final squad for this summer’s tournament in France has raised some eyebrows after the forward only broke into the Manchester United team last season.
Rashford scored on his full senior England debut last month and has earned plenty of new admirers for his impressive displays for the Red Devils.
And former England man Waddle is convinced that Rashford has what it takes to perform at the highest level for both club and country.
Waddle, speaking exclusively to Carlsberg, said: “If you play well and can handle it then it’s not too early.
“You saw him the other night scoring after 135 seconds and he ran away as if he’d scored in the back garden.
“He just looks natural and has an old head on young shoulders”
Rashford earned plenty of new admirers last season for his sparkling displays for the Red Devils after breaking into the United first team under Louis van Gaal.
United finished fifth and won the FA Cup last season before the club opted to sack Van Gaal.
