Claudio Ranieri gives latest update on Jamie Vardy’s transfer to Arsenal

Claudio Ranieiri says Leicester want to keep hold of Arsenal target Jamie Vardy this summer

Claudio Ranieri has admitted that Leicester City will be powerless to stop Jamie Vardy from joining Arsenal in the summer transfer window if he makes up his mind to join the Gunners.

The north London side have tabled a £20m bid to trigger the release clause in Vardy’s contract as Wenger looks to bolster his attacking options ahead of next season.

Vardy, however, is in no rush to make a decision about his future and looks set to wait until after his involvement in Euro 2016 with England before settling on his club for next season.

Leicester boss Ranieri has confirmed that Arsenal have made a bid to bring Vardy to The Emirates but says that the striker has still not made up his mind about whether he wants to join the Gunners.

Ranieri told Sky Sport Italia: “We want to keep him.

“Arsenal have said they will pay the full release clause, but he hasn’t accepted yet.

“He gets the last word.”
