Daley Blind sends message to Man United fans over Jose Mourinho
Daley Blind insists that he is prepared to fight for his future under new Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho
Daley Blind has insisted that he is prepared to fight for his future under Jose Mourinho amid suggestions he could be shown the door by the new Manchester United manager.
The Portuguese coach signed a three-year contract to become the Red Devils’ new manager on Friday after days of speculation linking him with the Old Trafford job.
The latest reports in the British media have claimed that Mourinho is willing to sell both Blind and Juan Mata following his appointment as the club’s new manager.
But Blind appears to be paying no attention to those reports as he focuses on his future.
The Netherlands international insists that he is ready to fight for his future under Mourinho at Old Trafford next season.
Blind is quoted as saying by Metro: “I am looking forward to working with Mourinho.
“We will have to wait and see whether anything changes for me. I will just give my all and work hard.
“Mourinho is a manager who has achieved a lot and I am keen to work with him.
“I might not be as big as [Real Madrid’s] Pepe, but I think I have shown in the Premier League that I can hold my own defensively. We conceded the fewest goals in the Premier League and I think we got the most clean sheets.
“That’s something to be proud of. I played nearly every game and that is a good feeling.
“You might be looking for a certain statement [about my future], but I will just give my all under Mourinho.”
Blind helped Manchester United win the FA Cup under Louis van Gaal last season as they also sealed a fifth-placed finish in the Premier League.
