Danny Mills comments on striker’s proposed transfer to Arsenal
Danny Mills has his say on reports linking Jamie Vardy with a transfer to Arsenal
Danny Mills has admitted that he is shocked that Jamie Vardy is pondering his options after being offered the chance to join Arsenal this summer.
The north London side are understood to have tabled a £20m bid to bring the forward to The Emirates and offered the striker a deal worth as much as £400,000 a week.
However, despite the offer on the table, Vardy appears to be in no rush to make a decision about his future as he focuses on performing for England at Euro 2016.
But former Leeds central defender Mills cannot believed that Vardy has not jumped at the chance to play for Arsene Wenger at The Emirates.
Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live, Mills said: “I would have walked down the M1 to Arsenal!
“I find it bizarre. If you’re agent’s speaking to Arsenal, the first question is: ‘Do you want to go to Arsenal?’
“It should be done and dusted. To turn around and say: ‘I’m going to think about it’… I don’t think Arsene Wenger will like that.”
Arsenal have already signed midfielder Granit Xhaka this summer as Wenger looks to revamp his squad ahead of next season.
The Gunners finished second last term, 10 points behind champions Leicester City in the table.
