Dwight Yorke: My thoughts on new Man United boss Jose Mourinho
Dwight Yorke discusses Manchester United's decision to appoint Jose Mourinho as manager last week
Dwight Yorke is backing Jose Mourinho to restore Manchester United to the top of English football following his appointment as the club’s new manager.
The Portuguese coach was finally unveiled as the club’s new boss last week after days of speculation linking him with the Old Trafford role.
Mourinho has signed a three-year contract with the Red Devils after the club opted to sack Louis van Gaal following their fifth placed finish in the Premier League.
Attentions will now inevitably turn towards the summer transfer window and Mourinho’s plans to strengthen his squad ahead of his first season in charge at Old Trafford.
However, Yorke feels that Mourinho is the right man to take United forward.
Speaking exclusively to 888sport, former striker Yorke said: “Mourinho is a big personality and successful manager so was the right choice.
“People may say about his boringness and how he approaches the game but that only happened at his second time around at Chelsea. With Duff and Robben and Lampard behind them they were quick and exciting and scored a lot of goals.”
“He will bring a lot of success and is just who Manchester United needs.”
Mourinho had been out of work since December following his sacking by Chelsea.
United opted to sack Van Gaal just two days after he led them to FA Cup glory.
