Eden Hazard’s Chelsea career could be over, says Blues legend
Giuanluca Vialli has some stern words of advice for Chelsea playmaker Eden Hazard...
Gianluca Vialli has warned Eden Hazard that his Chelsea career could be over unless he steps up his performances under new manager Antonio Conte.
The Belgium international failed to inspire his country to victory as the Red Devils were beaten 2-0 by Italy in their Euro 2016 group opener on Monday night.
Hazard came in for plenty of criticism last season after struggling for form and fitness for much of the campaign, as Chelsea endured a disastrous 12 months.
Conte is set to take over at Stamford Bridge after his involvement with Italy at Euro 2016 this summer.
And former Chelsea boss Vialli had a blunt message for the 25-year-old playmaker after Belgium’s loss to Italy on Monday night.
Speaking after the game on BBC Sport, Vialli said: “With Conte next season if he doesn’t run he’ll be out.
“He will have to do much more than he showed tonight.
“Belgium made the pitch too narrow. It is difficult when you have as many creative players as they do.
“You have to find the right balance between discipline and freedom. With Belgium it seems like there is too much freedom and not enough discipline.”
Hazard’s brilliant performances helped Chelsea win the Premier League and League Cup in the 2014-15 campaign under Jose Mourinho as he was voted as the PFA player of the year.
