Ivan Gazidis: Arsenal can sign world-class players this summer

Arsene Wenger will have a big transfer budget at Arsenal this summer, says the club's chief executive

Ivan Gazidis has reassured Arsenal fans that Arsene Wenger will have a significant transfer budget at his disposal this summer.

The north London side have already secured the services of midfielder Granit Xhaka in what is believed to be a deal worth around £30m.

Attentions have inevitably turned to the summer window after Arsenal failed to win a trophy last season and ended up 10 points behind champions Leicester in the table.

Wenger is believed to be on the lookout for a number of new signing as he bids to transform his side into genuine title contenders next season.

And Arsenal chief executive Gazidis has revealed that Wenger has a big transfer budget this summer for him to bring in the players he wants.

Speaking in an interview with The Telegraph, Gazidis said: “We are in a position that we were not in four or five years ago where we don’t have to sell our best players.

“We can go and sign world-class players if and when the manager identifies them.”
