Jose Mourinho ready to axe Man United star ahead of next season – report
Bastian Schweinsteiger could be on his way out of Manchester United this summer, say reports
Jose Mourinho is prepared to offload Bastian Schweinsteiger in the summer transfer window after just one season at the club for the midfielder, according to reports.
Mourinho is currently in the process of revamping his squad at Old Trafford as he prepares for his first campaign in charge of the Red Devils.
Thus far, United have only signed 22-year-old defender Eric Bailly from Villarreal but Mourinho is believed to be on the lookout for a number of new signings ahead of next season.
Mourinho moved quickly to tie down veteran midfielder Michael Carrick to a new one-year contract following his appointment as United boss.
However, the Manchester Evening News is now reporting that Schweinsteiger, signed by Louis van Gaal last summer, could be the first casualty of Mourinho’s reign at Old Trafford.
United opted to sack Van Gaal after they finished fifth in the Premier League and won the FA Cup under the Dutchman and Schweinsteiger failed to produce consistent performances last season.
