Jose Mourinho wants Man United to sign £50m Italy defender – report

Leonardo Bonucci is a target for Man United manager Jose Mourinho, according to Daily Star

Jose Mourinho wants Manchester United to sign Italy defender Leonardo Bonucci this summer, according to Daily Star.

The Juventus centre-half has emerged as an early contender for defender of the tournament after two impressive performances for Italy at the European championship in France.

The 29-year-old has been a key part of Juventus’s dominance of Serie A over the past four years, winning four successive Italian top-flight titles under Antonio Conte and then Massimiliano Allegri.

According to Daily Star, Mourinho has identified Bonucci as a target for the 20-time English champions as the Portuguese coach looks to further strengthen his defensive options.

Bonucci received lavish praise for his performance alongside Giorgio Chiellini as Italy were 2-0 winners against Belgium in their opening game of the European championship.

Antonio Conte’s Azzurri side were 1-0 winners against Sweden in their second Euro 2016 game.
