Karim Benzema comments on Jose Mourinho amid Man United transfer talk

Karim Benzema comments on his future and new Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho

Karim Benzema has talked up his special relationship with Jose Mourinho as he continues to be linked with a summer transfer to Manchester United.

Mourinho is in the process of identifying his top summer transfer targets as he prepares for his first season in charge at Old Trafford after being appointed as the club’s new manager last week.

Benzema played under the Portuguese coach during his spell at Real Madrid and helped the club win the Spanish league title.

The France international has been linked with a move away from the Bernabeu in recent weeks, with both Arsenal and Manchester United touted as possible destinations.

And the striker has admitted that he is a keen admirer of the newly-appointed Manchester United boss.

Benzema is quoted as saying by Metro: “Mou was something special.

“It did not go well at first, then better, with ups and downs.”

Asked about his future, he continued: “I always say I’m at the best club in the world, with the stadium, the fans, with a very demanding level of playing, with the best players in the world.

“Away from here, I don’t know where to go really. I do not look to leave for another team.

“This is the top. There are other clubs that give a lot of money to play with them, but I am not like that.

“I like football and here is the best.”

Mourinho has been tasked with guiding United back to the top of English football after their fifth-placed finish last season.
