Leicester star backs Jamie Vardy to shine at Arsenal
Shinji Okazaki feels that Jamie Vardy would be a success at Arsenal should he move to The Emirates this summer
Shinji Okazaki believes that Jamie Vardy would be a big hit at Arsenal should he end up securing a transfer to Emirates Stadium this summer.
The England international forward has been heavily linked with a transfer to Arsenal in recent days after the north London side were said to have activated the £20m release clause in his contract with Leicester.
Vardy’s 24 Premier League goals helped to fire Leicester to the Premier League title last season and it remains to be seen whether the striker will remain at the King Power Stadium beyond the summer.
However, Leicester City star Okazaki feels that Vardy would be able to adapt to any style of play, including Arsenal’s.
Speaking in an interview with the Japan Times, Okazaki said: “It is difficult to say what I would do if I were in his position. Arsenal have not won the league for a long time and that is maybe a dream he has.
“He has won the league with Leicester and if he led Arsenal to the title rather than try and help Leicester defend it, then his stock would rise even further.
“I think he has the potential to adapt to any style of football. He has that sudden burst of speed and there are a lot of players at Arsenal who will notice that right away and play to that strength of his. He can adjust to any style.”
Arsenal are believed to be on the lookout for a number of new players this summer as they prepare for next season, which could be Arsene Wenger’s last at the club.
