Leicester star comments on Jamie Vardy’s proposed transfer to Arsenal
Danny Simpson has his say on Jamie Vardy's proposed transfer to Arsenal this summer
Danny Simpson has pleaded with Jamie Vardy to ignore Arsenal’s advances and commit to Leicester City for at least one more season.
The Gunners have been heavily linked with a move to bring the striker to The Emirates after they recently reportedly triggered the £20m release clause in his contract.
Vardy, however, appears to be in no rush to make a decision about his future and is set to have the final say after his involvement in Euro 2016 with England.
Vardy was one of the Premier League’s standout performers last season as he scored 24 goals to help fire Claudio Ranieri’s men to the Premier League title.
Now, his Foxes team-mate Simpson has revealed that he is keen for the forward to stay at the King Power Stadium.
Speaking to BBC Sportsweek, Simpson said: “I have spoken to Jamie. Everyone wants him to stay. We would like everyone to stay, even if it’s just for one more year.
“It’s his decision, and he says he wants to concentrate on the European Championship. Jamie knows what I think of him as a lad and a player.
“No money can buy the bond that we have got at the club. It’s a special group. Why not carry on and kick on as a group and squad?”
Arsenal finished second in the Premier League last season, 10 points behind champions Leicester City in the table.
