Former Liverpool defender: Why I’m proud of new Man United signing
Kolo Toure has explained why he is proud of Man United signing Eric Bailly
Kolo Toure has heaped praise on new Manchester United signing Kolo Toure.
The Ivory Coast international completed a £30m move to the Red Devils earlier this month as the 22-year-old became the first signing of the Jose Mourinho era at Old Trafford.
Bailly signed a four-year contract with the 20-time English champions after swapping La Liga side Villarreal for United after just one season at El Stadio Madrigal.
The African has already made 15 appearances for the Ivory Coast national team in an impressive start to his career with club and country.
And Toure, who was released by Liverpool after three seasons at Anfield, lavished praise on his compatriot after his big-money move to the 13-time Premier League winners.
“We’re proud of Eric. We’re all very happy for his move to Manchester United,” Toure told Sport Ivoire.
“He’s a calm guy who works a lot, and today, this work has been noticed by one of the biggest clubs in Europe.
“It’s the whole country who’s honoured.”
Bailly made 35 appearances for Villarreal in his only season at the La Liga outfit.
Mourinho was appointed as Louis van Gaal’s successor at Old Trafford last month after relentless speculation linking the ex-Chelsea boss with the role.
